When I first started working as a clinical psychologist in allergy, I was struck by just how much fear parents were living with - the constant second-guessing, the “what-ifs,” and the anxiety of things going wrong.

Research shows that parents of children with allergies often feel a huge amount of anxiety, but there’s  little out there to actually help manage it in a real, practical way, which addresses the unique differences in allergy anxiety compared to other anxiety.

After working with hundreds of individuals and families, I’ve developed a method that makes a real difference. One which acknowledges the risks of living with allergies, but does not allow it to become all consuming.

I use the idea of "Safe Enough" to show parents there is a way to protect their children but without living in constant fear. Because the truth is, no parent can control everything, and being in a constant state of threat all the time makes life harder than it already is living with allergies.

This mini-course is here to help you take the first step toward reducing your anxiety, gaining more clarity, confidence and control.

This course is perfect for you if…

  • You second-guess every decision - whether it’s reading food labels for the hundredth time, avoiding social events, or lying awake at night replaying “what-if” scenarios.

  • You feel like you’re constantly on high alert, always scanning for danger and structuring your whole life around possible allergens.

  • Mealtimes feel more like a battlefield than a family moment, filled with anxiety about cross-contamination, safe foods, and whether others truly understand the risks.

  • You struggle to let others take over, finding it hard to trust schools, family members, or caregivers with your child’s safety, which leaves you feeling exhausted and isolated.

  • You feel guilty for wanting a break, torn between doing everything “right” for your child and the very real need to look after yourself too.

This course will help you shift from constant worry to feeling calmer, clearer, and more in control - so you can protect your child without feeling consumed by fear.

Hi I'm Francesca!

A chartered clinical psychologist, with over 12 years experience working in the NHS at some of the U.K’s leading children’s hospitals.

I am hugely passionate about supporting children and families with allergies, having previously led the psychology team at the Children’s Allergy Service at the Evelina Hospital, which is one of the largest allergy services in Europe.

I am one of only a handful of clinical psychologists specialising in allergy in the U.K. and I am dedicated to raising awareness of the psychological impact of living with allergies and shine a spotlight on the subsequent need for more support, which let’s be honest, is currently no where near enough.

It’s my mission to not only support as many families living with allergies as possible, but also keep fighting for improved access to specialist psychological support for those with allergies. I’m also proud to be a specialist advisor for the Sadie Bristow foundation, which is a charity dedicated to increasing knowledge and education of allergies.

Dr Francesca Sawer

Having worked across many areas of paediatrics, child development and children’s mental health services I bring a unique blend of knowledge and experience in supporting all aspects of psychological well-being in children and families, but with a specific focus on the challenges that living with allergies brings.

Traditional therapy may come from the perspective of challenging your fears and showing you that you are not in danger, whereas my approach is adapted to actually take into account you are living with the reality of allergies and is therefore much more individual focused and working towards tolerating a Safe Enough position, which allows you to be alert to possible risks but not defined by them.

Over on Instagram I give regular insights of my work and small tips which I hope will help you on your journey of living happily and confidently with allergies.
